Welcome to Midwest Journal Press!

Hello and welcome.
Midwest Journal Press was created as a natural extension of an online journal, started when I became bound and determined to simply make a living out of the Midwest. Working literally off a farm, with our nearest town being about 10,000 population, it has always seemed logical that the Internet should provide a market for distant areas.
This site has gone through several incarnations on a couple of platforms and seems to have hit this latest stable level.
Essentially what you have here is a bookstore getting ready to accept your orders. While I have a lot of work to do to get this ready, it will always remain a work in progress.
The current incarnation (hopefully the last) is a new revamp of the old system. Turned out the technical backend was causing more headaches than it was benefits. So I’ve squished what I had into one site and am really ready to start cranking out useful content through this new system.
What I’ll be doing here is spotlighting the books I publish – both my own works and those of other authors which I edit back to life. Each book will have it’s own mini-courses by email, videos, podcasts – all that modern social media stuff.
I hope to keep this front page updated with the most recent news about each book I review and promote here.
But what you see here is the pre-release version of this site. On this page, you’ll be able to keep up with all my new releases – and comments on marketing books in our digital age, with our new promotional social media tools. You might want to subscribe to this page in order to keep updated. I’m working to also allow RSS feeds just for certain categories, so you don’t have to keep up with all the books.
Now, my own take outside of these promotion posts, as well as overall descriptions of the books I’ll be describing here can be found at http://robertworstell.com That site has most of my original posts from my Midwest Journal – and continues to be reflective of what I find in my journey through making a living in the middle of Flyover Zone.
What’s coming up:
It looks like most of my self-help research has been completed. There is still a 10th anniversary edition of “Go Thunk Yourself!”, which will be entitled “Go Thunk Yourself, Revisited.” This will compile all of the research I’ve been doing since GTY originally came out. Essentially, this will review and update all the work I’d done earlier and include my later notes and advances. Far from being a boring retrospective, it will actually set a new and completely pragmatic aproach to self-help and personal development – something anyone can easily apply by themselves or with a group.
My main efforts will finally be going to my artwork and cartooning. A new site called MyFlyoverZone (http://myflyoverzone.midwestjournalpress.com) is set up (mostly) to accept my serial artwork and story lines. To begin with, I’ll be publishing some old works which will test the system and start building links and marketing approaches. As this builds, I’ll be producing regular artwork which can be syndicated – though I also intend to sell the collected books (again, through Lulu.com) and as well have a “velvet rope”subscription area for a few people who I can converse with directly on my art, it’s meaning, and application to our world.
There’s a lot to his one, since most of the Internet is build around wordage – and a graphical artist deals in images. But we should start seeing more in a few months…
